Lawrence Louis “Larry” Flaschenriem was born July 10, 1934, in St. Nicholas to John and Frances (Schriefels) Flaschenriem. He attended country school in St. Nicholas, and he served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 during the Koreran Conflict. Larry was united in marriage to Mary Ann Fuchs on Oct. 17, 1964, at the Church of St. Anthony in Watkins. In his younger days, Larry did custom farm work with his brother. He then worked for the Watkins Farmers Co-op Creamery prior to owning and operating F&F Service for many years with his brother-in-law Jim. After closing the shop, Larry continued to work independently on trucks and farm equipment. He also became an excellent resource, and he could often be found sharing his mechanical knowledge while sitting on a stool overseeing the job. Larry was a member of the Church of St. Anthony, the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Watkins Lions Club, and the Watkins American Legion. Larry had a passion for Minneapolis Moline tractors, and he enjoyed taking road trips with family and friends. He was a loving husband, and he always made time for his family. Larry was an absolute “yes man” who could take care of any situation. He will be remembered for the sound of his giggle, his warm smile, and the fact that he was always cool, calm, and collected.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents John and Frances, and his siblings Andy, Margaret, Wilfred, Cecelia, Agatha, Al, and John.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Watkins; children Dan “Flash” (and Penny) Flaschenriem of Watkins, Robert (and Julie) Flaschenriem of Watkins, Jane (and Peter) Kampen of Prior Lake, Nancy (and Roger) Nohner of Jordan, and Lou Ann (and Tom) Flaschenriem Fickett of Cold Spring; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his siblings Hildegarde (and David) Brown-Hahn, Irene Rohr, Agnes (and David) Hennen, Clara Witte, and Edwin Flaschenriem.
