South Dakota State University held its annual Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity Day April 15.
Leah Schiefelbein of Kimball received the Joseph F. Nelson Undergraduate Research Award, and Fishback Honors College Undergraduate Research Award that evening.
In addition to featuring music performances and selecting top student research posters, the university announced the recipients of the Schultz-Werth Awards for outstanding papers or research reports, the Joseph F. Nelson Undergraduate Research Awards and the Fishback Honors College Undergraduate Research Awards. The event was organized by SDSU’s Van D. and Barbara B. Fishback Honors College.
“Research, scholarship and creative activity are our pathways to a brighter future than ever before. When undergraduate students participate in these activities, they gain critical skills and develop lifelong relationships,” said Rebecca Bott-Knutson, dean of the Fishback Honors College. “The terrific group of students featured at the event represents our future innovators, entrepreneurs, authors, and artists. In many cases, student-mentor pairs are the first in the world to discover or generate new knowledge. Our future is in most capable hands!”
