The eighth annual Cops and Lobsters event will be in St. Cloud Wednesday and Thursday, April 14-15, to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics. Local law enforcement and other criminal justice professionals will donate their time to act as “celebrity waiters” at the Red Lobster restaurant during the event. Red Lobster allows off-duty officers to buddy-up with Red Lobster personnel to serve diners during the meal rush. The event will begin at 11 a.m. and last until the meal rush is over. St. Cloud area supporters have made St. Cloud the leading Special Olympics “tip earner” in Minnesota each year. Officers will strive to enhance the already high-quality service available. In exchange, they ask that you consider leaving a “tip” in addition to the normal server’s tip, to go directly to the Special Olympics. In addition to raising funds, the event aims to increase the awareness of Special Olympics. This year, as in the past, athletes and their coaches will be available to tell you about their involvement in the program.
