Legion Auxiliary Junior Conference April 8

The 54th Annual Department of Minnesota American Legion Auxiliary Conference was held Saturday, April 8, 2017, in Forest Lake, Minn.

Junior members from Kimball who attended the conference were Maleah Loch, Carly Loch, and Elizabeth Spoden. Senior members who attended the conference were Cindy May, Sherry Loch, and Renee Beerscheid.

The conference was called to order by Department Honorary Junior President Kiana Coleman Woods.

Greetings were brought by the Forest Lake Commander Robin Kunkel, Forest Lake Unit President Kathy Dunaway, Forest Lake SAL Commander Michael Kuehn, and Forest Lake Legion Riders Director Don Skow. Also welcoming the Juniors was the Third District Commander Mike Maxa, and Third District President Marcie Baysinger, and Third District Honorary Junior President Victoria Soukup.

The Third District Legion Riders Director Chad Gneeder, and the Tenth District Legion Riders Director Steve Sullivan brought greetings, and also presented President Kiana with a leather Legion Riders vest and made her an honorary Legion Rider.

 

Other greetings were brought by distinguised guests Department Commander Denise Milton, and Department President Carol Kottom.

The juniors were each put on different committee assignments, and judging of poppy contest entries. Carly Loch won first place in Class I for her poppy memorial wreath and second place Class I for her poppy centerpiece. Elizabeth Spoden won first place in Class II for her poppy jewelry, and first place in Class II for her poppy corsage.

The juniors elected new officers for the 2017-2018 year.

The 2018 Department Junior Conference will be held in North St. Paul, hosted by the Fourth District.
