Legionville Camp-O-Ree in Brainerd

·

The 49th Annual Legionville Camp-O-Ree was held Sept. 6-9 in Brainerd, on North Long Lake. This camp is a school patrol training center and the only one in the United States. Children learn safety training at camp. The camp is held during the summer months. At the end of summer, usually the first weekend after Labor Day, the Camp-O-Ree is held. This is when Legionnaires, Auxiliary members, S.A.L. members and their families and friends get together. Some of the Districts hold steak fries, pork feeds, and fish fries, and donate the money raised to help operate the camp. The 6th District always holds a fish fry on the Saturday of the Camp-O-Ree. This year the attendance was down but still the 6th District raised $1,750 for the camp.

Members from the Kimball Post, Unit and S.A.L. were Ray and Laurie Wells, Marty Knoll and Benita Adolph, Colette Van Vleet, Jeanne Marschel, LuAnn Marschel, Barb Hopewell, Jeanne Schmidt, and her husband Jerry Schmidt, Carol Santone-Royal, Sharon Skuza, and her husband Tom Skuza, Dori Hamilton, Abby Zenzen, and Renee Berscheid.

Everyone donated food and their time helping with the fish fry. Lots of bingo was played and this money was also donated to Legionville. We all had fun working together for a good cause.
