Like horses? Volunteer with Project ASTRIDE

Project ASTRIDE is a non-profit organization that provides therapeutic and recreational horseback riding experiences for children and adults with disabilities from the central Minnesota area. The program operates Monday through Thursday from April to October. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and must provide their own transportation to the site. Previous experience with horses is not a requirement. Volunteers are trained to assist participants with grooming, tacking, moving safely around horses and will also lead horses or walk alongside participants during the hour long classes. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one hour long class per week for the eight week period the class runs. Volunteers are also needed to assist with fund raising, coordinating volunteers and riders, and administrative duties. Summer volunteer training will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at Project ASTRIDE which is located south of St. Cloud on Highway 15, approximately one mile south of the I-94 interchange, on the west side of the highway.
