Lillian Myllykangas, 72

Lillian L. Myllykangas of Kingston Township, Meeker County, died on Wednesday evening, May 1, 2002, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 6, at Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with the Rev. Art Stenberg, pastor of the Lake Union Covenant Church in South Haven, officiating. Interment followed at the Apostolic Lutheran Church Cemetery in Kingston.

Lillian Lorraine Bergquist was born in Litchfield on March 26, 1930, to Emery and Ethel (Robertson) Bergquist. She attended rural school in Kingston Township, and graduated from Litchfield High School. Following high school, she worked in Minneapolis.

On May 12, 1951, Lillian was united in marriage to Gordon R. Myllykangas at the Bergquist home farm in Kingston Township; he preceded her in death in June 1998. They made their home in the Kingston area following their marriage.

Lillian was at various times employed by the State Bank of Kimball, the Kimball Schools, and for many years at the Dassel bank until her retirement, and part-time after her retirement as needed.

She was a member of the Lake Union Covenant Church of rural South Haven, where she was confirmed, and the Covenant Women Organization of the church. She was also a member of the Johnson-Kelly American Legion Auxiliary of Kingston.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Gordon.

She is survived by her children: Connie (and Steve) Rossman of Fair Haven, Cindy (and Keith) Arens of Kingston, Denise (and Douglas) Bollman of Dassel, Debbie (and Jim) Lammersen of South Haven, and Daniel (and Nicole) Myllykangas of Litchfield; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and by her sister Gen (and Robert) Myllykangas of Hutchinson.

Casket bearers were grandsons Sam and Pat Rossman, Christopher and Trent Lammersen, and Nick Arens, and godson John Myllykangas. Honorary bearers were grandsons Bobby Arens, Isaac Bollman, Zachariah and Elijah Myllykangas.

Special music was provided by soloists Karen Elgard and Lynn Tieman, and organist Janet Latt.
