Motorcycle crash with injuries
Saturday, Sept. 22, at about
1:41 p.m. the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Kimball Fire Department, and Watkins Ambulance were dispatched to a motorcycle crash with injuries at the intersection of Highway 55 and County Road 48 in Maine Prairie Township. Eric Lee Blumke, 44 of Sartell, with his motorcycle, hit loose gravel in the intersection and went down. Blumke had another family member on scene following him who contacted help. Blumke was taken from the scene to
St. Cloud Hospital by North Memorial Air Ambulance for his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet. The crash is under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.
One-vehicle crash Thursday
Thursday, Sept. 20, at 1:15 a.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a one-vehicle rollover accident. Driver Edwin Allen Nelson, 34 of Watkins, was traveling south on County Road 50 near Fruit Farm Road in Collegeville Township. Nelson’s vehicle left the roadway in a curved section of road. It then hit a driveway approach causing the vehicle to launch into trees on the other side of the driveway. It came to rest between the trees and a power pole. Nelson was trapped in the vehicle and needed extrication.
County Road 50 was shut down during extrication. Nelson was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital via ambulance with non life-threatening injuries. The crash is under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Avon and
St. Joseph Police Departments, Avon Fire and Rescue, and Gold Cross Ambulance.
