Lots of 30s and even some 40s

·

Weather: It was a mild start to the week on Monday for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Temperatures were in the 20s for morning lows across parts of southern Minnesota.

Much of central and west central Minnesota weren?Äôt quite that warm, but we still started off the week with low temperatures in
the teens.

A storm system brought in the mild air on Monday. Along with the mild air, we also had some patchy fog across most of the state. Some spots had visibility less than a mile on Monday morning.

That winter storm brought a mix of freezing rain and snow across southern Minnesota into east central Minnesota. Winter storm watches and warnings were in effect for that part of the state due to the difficult travel conditions on Monday and Tuesday.

We will see lots of 30s and even some 40s for daytime high temperatures for most of the week and into the weekend. A little ?Äútaste?Äù of spring will be in the air.

It looks like the mild weather will stay with us for next week as well. A blocking high will keep us in this mild weather pattern for the foreseeable future.

There is another system that is expected to arrive by Friday into Saturday. At this stage it looks like mainly a main event, but a little wintry mix can?Äôt be ruled out the further north you go.

Enjoy the mild temperatures.

Weather history: It was on the this date in 1994 that Governor Arne Carlson ?Äúordered all Minnesota public schools closed due to the extreme cold and severe winter weather.?Äù Records show that ?Äúmorning readings were in the 30-below-zero range.?Äù In addition, the high winds made for dangerous wind chill values.

Weather fact: Pressure change: The net difference between pressure ?Äúreadings at the beginning and ending of a specified interval of time.?Äù
