Louis Stallkamp of rural Blue Earth, formerly of Kimball, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at Mapleton Community Home. He was 101.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Lois Abel officiating. Visitation time will be Monday from 4 – 7 p.m., at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth and one hour prior to services at the church. Louis was born April 12, 1908, at South Haven to William and Anna (Hoffman) Stallkamp. He was raised and educated in Kimball before moving to Blue Earth in 1935. There he began working as a farm hand for local farmers. He was married to Marian W. Fenske June 11, 1938, in Blue Earth and the couple began farming southeast of Blue Earth. They continued farming there until Louis’ retirement in 1980. Marian died in 1998. He was a longtime member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Blue Earth, and was an Emro 4-H Leader for 25 years. He also served on the Emerald Township Board. He enjoyed gardening, raising livestock and other animals, and spending time with his family. He always had time to visit over coffee or at the fenceline.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marian, and three brothers.

Louis is survived by his sons Eugene (and Marilyn) Stallkamp of Bricelyn, and William (and Carol) Stallkamp of Mankato; daughters Mary Ann (and Gary) Hultgren of Arlington, and Judy (and John) Strand of Ames, Iowa; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
