Lounsbury talks hobos at EVAL Saturday

·

Connie Lounsbury was again a guest speaker at the Eden Valley Area Library Saturday morning, Feb. 11. The Minnesota
author presented her book ?ÄúA Hobo?Äôs Wish?Äù with stories about the struggles of hobos during the Great Depression in America. At right, she discussed some of the symbols used by hobos in the towns they visited. These symbols gave information about who lived in a particular home (important to know, for instance, if a policeman lived there), or whether they might find a good meal there. Other symbols were warnings to keep moving, for example. Submitted photos.
