Minnesota Food Share Program
The MAFS has an opportunity to participate in the Minnesota Food Share Program.; For all food donated to the food shelf in March, a proportionate amount will be made available by Minnesota food producers. Businesses, clubs, organizations, and individuals who are thinking of donating are encouraged to do so during the month of March. All local donations of food and money stay with the food shelf and remain under our complete control.
During the month of March only, food and money donated will be matched proportionately by major food producers.
What is the March Campaign?
The March Campaign is Minnesota?Äôs largest food and cash drive to fill the state?Äôs food shelves. Every March for 35 years, Minnesota FoodShare has led a campaign to feed thousands of hungry Minnesotans. With help from our media partners, Minnesota FoodShare gets the word out to fill local food shelves and publicizes the very real hunger problem in our state. Working with 300 participating local food shelves, we get the word out to local congregations, corporations, schools and civic groups that we are here to help with their local food or cash drives. Minnesota FoodShare acts as a clearing house for people to donate cash in March. Each year, Minnesota FoodShare disperses every dollar raised to food shelves across the state and designates it for food.
The Kimball Area Food Shelf is located at St. Anne?Äôs Church. Food may be dropped off there or at any of the local churches or schools.
The Food Shelf does receive money from the state which is determined by the amount of money and pounds of food collected during the month of March, along with the persons served during these first three months of the year.
So, would you please help out your neighbors, friends and family by giving generously to the Kimball Area Food Shelf, Inc. this March. All monies and food collecxted are kept in this community.
