The Kimball School Board held their March 18, 2020, regular meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. with members Schreiner and Zipoy present in the board room, and members Becker, Davis, Helgeson, and Waldorf present remotely.
Two diplomas were signed for presentation to ABE students who have completed their requirements.
The board approved the consent agenda consisting of approval of the Feb. 19 and March 3, minutes, approval of bills, and treasurer’s report. They also accepted resignations from Bob Steffen, Tech Ed Instructor; Mary Bernardy, 6th grade teacher; Brenda Mass, Kindergarten teacher; and Byron Westrich, Phy-Ed instructor and Activities Director. Policy 506 – Student Discipline was approved, and donations were accepted.
High School Principal report, given by Superintendent Widvey included two references regarding World Classrooms, and teachers and staff are working hard to prepare for Digital Learning to begin Monday, March 30. The Superintendent reported on highlights and assumptions of the Preliminary FY21 budget; the Health, Safety, and Wellness meeting; the Budget Committee meeting; and an update on the current process and procedures during the Governor’s closure of schools.
The board tabled the senior class request for early dismissal, changes to activity fees for 2020-2021, and changes to the Cubs Club fee structure, until their April meeting.
Action was taken on approving the preliminary budget, adopting Policy 805 – Pandemic Illness Emergency Plan, minutes from the March 15, emergency board meeting, and hiring of Haley Able as a Cubs Club Assistant.
