·

Marilyn Nyren of South Haven died peacefully Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, from complications of a stroke at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Cloud, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82.

(A celebration of life was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.) Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 331 Harris St. N.W., Annandale.

Marilyn Geraldine Maus was born in Monticello to Frank and Doris (Dietrich) Maus. She graduated from Upsala High School in 1956 where she was Homecoming Queen. She was united in marriage to Duane J. Nyren on Nov. 22, 1958. They established their home in South Haven and were blessed with four children.

She worked outside the home at Madden’s Nursing Home in South Haven, Fabricraft (Airtex Ind.) in Cokato, and as a childcare provider with her daughter Delire in Buffalo. The love of Marilyn’s life was her family. She enjoyed hosting picnics, family reunions, birthdays, and holidays; she always found ways to gather family and friends. You could see and hear Marilyn on the sidelines of any sporting event. From hot blistering swimming pools to freezing cold hockey games, trap shoots, football, baseball, soccer, volleyball games, dance recitals, and gymnastic meets, Marilyn was the number-one cheerleader. Her passions were traveling to Alaska, fishing, flower gardening, and cleaning. Marilyn will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Dean, Denny, and Duane Maus, and Donny Walgenbach; grandson Dustin Truenow; and son-in-law Scott Stammer.

She is survived by Duane, her husband of 62 years; children Mark (and Jeri) Nyren of Annandale, Delire (and James) Rhode of Bufffalo, Lorae (and Calvin) Truenow of South Haven, and Dawn (and Jeff Teschendorf) Stammer of South Haven; 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; sisters Marlene Yager (Marilyn’s identical twin) of Waite Park, and Shirley Noonan of Paynesville; and many nieces and nephews.
