Marjorie Strecker of Glenwood, formerly of South Haven, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at the Glenwood Retirement Village. She was 84. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Villard with Rev. Lawrence Cain officiating. Interment followed in the Lake Union Cemetery in South Haven. Visitation was from 4-8 Tuesday at the Hoplin Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday. Marjorie L. Strecker was born in South Haven Dec. 7, 1920, to August and Mathilda (Wadman) Erickson; she was the youngest of nine children. She was baptized at home and confirmed at the Lake Union Covenant Church in South Haven. Marjorie attended the Minnesota School of Business in Mineapolis. She married Lester Strecker Feb. 17, 1940; he preceded her in death. Marjorie did bookkeeping work for the creamery that she and Lester owned in Sedan. They sold the creamery in 1965 and became partners in a real estate and insurance business, the Strecker Agency in Glenwood. Marjorie was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Lester; sisters Gladys, Dora, Ellen and Mildred; three infant brothers and one infant sister.
