She attended St. Anthony Catholic School through eighth grade, and graduated from Kimball High School in 1959. After graduating, Mary Ann moved to Minneapolis and worked as a bookkeeper until the need to support her family brought her back to Watkins where she met the love of her life. Mary Ann spent 59 years by the side of her beloved husband Larry, building a life filled with love and laughter, and together they raised five children. She was a constant presence at their sports games, events, and activities, cheering them on with unwavering pride and support. As a bookkeeper, Mary Ann brought her attention to detail and organizational skills to her work. She managed the books for F&F Service until 1989 when she transitioned to an office role at Langmo Farms where she worked for more than 20 years. Mary Ann found great joy in volunteering, actively participating in the Watkins Lions Club, St. Anthony Church circles, Catholic Aid, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Girl Scouts. She was a loyal supporter of the American Legion; for many years she helped her husband prepare monthly meeting lunches for the members, and she orchestrated the baking and decorating of more than 12 dozen cookies for the annual Christmas party. Additionally, she cherished helping kindergartners at the Watkins Elementary School where she earned the affectionate nickname ‘Gramma.’Her love of baking was legendary, and her homemade donuts were a highlight of the annual F&F Service Open House. But it was her sewing skills that brought her daughters so much joy. She spent countless hours creating matching outfits, dresses, and treasured baby quilts that will be remembered for years to come.As a grandmother, Mary Ann was a doting and loving presence in the lives of her 12 grandchildren and five (soon to be six) great-grandchildren. She spoiled them with love, attention, and delicious treats like her famous banana bread, and they adored her for it.Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Larry, parents Aloys and Aurelia, and brothers James and Michael. She is survived by her five children Dan “Flash” (and Penny) Flaschenriem of Watkins, Robert (and Julie) Flaschenriem of Watkins, Jane (and Peter) Kampen of Prior Lake, Nancy (and Roger) Nohner of Jordan, and Lou Ann (and Tom) Flaschenriem Fickett of Cold Spring; her 12 grandchildren Connor, Tanner, Cameron, Abby, Alex, Leo, Katelynn, Kim, Kristin, Jacob, Hunter, and Nathan, and her five great-grandchildren; her siblings Rich Fuchs, Marjorie (and Tom) Simmons, and Allen (and Cheryl) Fuchs, and sisters-in-law Clara Witte, Agnes (and Dave) Hennen, Hilda Hahn, Irene Rohr, and brother-in-law Edwin. .The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Hilltop Health Care Center for the compassionate care and support they provided to Mary Ann during her time with them.
