Mary Lueders, 93

Mary Lueders died at her South Haven home on Saturday, May 25, 2002. She was 92 years old.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball with Rev. Dave Milz officiating. Burial followed in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery in Fair Haven. Friends called from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball, and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral chapel in Kimball.

Mary A. Lueders was born on Nov. 18, 1909, in Watkins to George and Angeline (Cretier) Nothnagel. She married Ted Strecker on Sept. 15, 1929, in Parshall, N.D. They farmed near South Haven from 1930 until his death on June 18, 1975. They also boarded patients in their home from the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud for nine years.

Mary married Henry Lueders on July 6, 1977, in Kimball. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball, and a former member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven where she was active in the Ladies’ Aid, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School for 13 years.

She loved her grandchildren, gardening, crocheting, and the family ponies.

Mrs. Lueders was preceded in death by her first husband; son Claren Strecker; grandson Patrick Petty; an infant brother; brothers Gus, John, Clarence, Andrew, Leonard and Irvin; and sisters Helen Loch and Theresa Janisch.

She is survived by her husband Henry of South Haven; daughter Betty Lou (and Don) Petty of South Haven; five grandchildren: Michelle (and Doug) Smith of Maple Lake, Colleen (and Al) Wolff of Annandale, Doug (and Bonnie) Petty of Bethel, Wayne (and Deb) Petty of Clearwater, and Kelly Petty of St. Augusta; two stepdaughters: Kathy Tripp of Kinson, N.C., and Mary Burnett of Macintosh, Fla.; brother George (and Pat) Nothnagel of Maple Lake; sisters Delores Spaude of St. Cloud, and Angeline Eisenreich of Crosby; sisters-in-law Luella Dammann of Annandale, Hope Nothnagel of Missouri, Margaret Nothnagel of St. Cloud, Phyllis Nothnagel of St. Cloud; 21 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ethan and Brady Smith, Corey Wolff, and Scott, Richard and Jason Petty. Honorary pallbearers were Jamie Elletson, and Caleb, Brandon, and Matthew Petty. Music was provided by organist Dee Curtis and the soloist Jane Mol.
