Twenty-three Meeker County 4-H members traveled to Sauk Rapids to compete at the State Project Bowl Competition Saturday, April 8. Meeker County 4-H had five teams compete in the areas of Dairy, Horse, Poultry, and Rabbits. The project bowl competition is designed to test the participants?Äô knowledge in all facets of the industry. The participants spend many hours studying periodicals and other resources getting ready for the contest.
Meeker County, in conjunction with Kandiyohi, had a Junior and Senior dairy team compete at State. The Junior team members were: Wilson Gratz (Kandiyohi), Johnathon Gathje (Meeker), Taylor Fester (Meeker), Vanessa Lee (Meeker), and Vincent Lee (Meeker). They placed second overall. The Senior team members were: Morgan Paulson (Kandiyohi), Daniel Williamson (Meeker), Anna Euerle (Meeker) and Gregory Gathje (Meeker). They placed first overall, and have the option to participate in the National competition. Both teams were coached by Jim Salfer.
Meeker County had a Junior and Senior horse team compete at State. Members of the Junior team were: Abby Thompson, Zoe Eblen, Maggie Malling, and Annika Soderlund. They placed second overall. They were coached by Michelle Soderlund. Senior team members were: Emily Porter, Ally Eblen, Bailey Woehler, and Cassidy Becker. They placed fourth overall. They were coached by Cheryl Eblen.
Meeker County?Äôs Junior poultry team participated in the State competition. Members of team, ?ÄúScrambled?Äù, were: Gretta Lemke, Henry Lemke, Cole Lindberg, and Jacob Huhn. This team placed fifth. The team was coached by Alison Radunz and Tracy Huhn.
Meeker County?Äôs Senior rabbit team competed at the State event. The team members included Laura Shoutz, Joseph Carlson, and Owen Carlson. This team placed fifth overall. The team was coached by Dawn Michaletz and Joshua Carlson.
