What two ways are amino acids supplied to the small intestine? What are the two purposes of an inflation? How many pounds of milk does it take to make a pound of butter? Name five macro minerals? These are a few of the questions that the Meeker County 4-H Dairy Project Bowl teams had to answer correctly at the State Project Bowl Competition held in Foley Saturday, April 21. Meeker County had two Senior and two Junior Dairy teams that competed in this event. All of the Meeker County teams finished within the top three teams.
The project bowl competition is designed to test the participants’ knowledge in all facets of the dairy industry. The participants spend many hours studying periodicals and other resources getting ready for the contest.
Dairy Bowl Meeker/Stearns Senior TeamÐthird in State. Members are Nicole Krumrie of Litchfield, Tyler Eblen of Belgrade, Jon Frenchick of Paynesville, and Carla Bromenschenkel from Stearns County. Dairy Bowl Meeker/Stearns Senior TeamÐfirst in state. Members are James Gathje of Richmond, Nathan Maus from Stearns County, Tim Lux of Eden Valley, Matt Krumrie of Litchfield, and Cory Schmidt of Cosmos. Both senior teams were coached by Lisa Maus and Jim Salfer.
Dairy Bowl Meeker/Kandiyohi Junior TeamÐthird in State. Members are Wyatt Renne of Grove City, Sawyer Eblen of Belgrade, Dillon Gratz from Kandiyohi County, Elliot Gratz from Kandiyohi County, and Greg Lux of Eden Valley. Dairy Bowl Meeker Junior TeamÐfirst in State. Members are Katherine Gathje of Richmond, Daniel Williamson of Spicer, Gregory Gathje of Richmond, Jonathan Gathje of Richmond, and Shelby Kuechle of Eden Valley. Both junior teams were coached by Alan Barka of Watkins and Lucas Salfer of Dassel.
