What is another name for Dystocia? What is the treatment for milk enterotoxemia? What is the ideal adult weight for a Himalayan doe rabbit? These are a few of the questions that the Meeker County 4-H Rabbit Project Bowl Teams had to answer correctly at the State Rabbit Bowl held in Foley Saturday, April 21. In this competition, the team that answers the most questions correctly wins.
The project bowl competition is designed to test the participants’ knowledge in all facets of the rabbit industry. The participants spend many hours studying to get ready for the contest. Team members include Oliver Leafblad of Watkins, Elijah Michaletz of Litchfield, Miranda Michaletz of Litchfield, Katie Peterson of Grove City, and Ryan Peterson of Grove City. This team placed eighth overall. Their coaches, Dawn and Joel Michaletz, are extremely proud of their accomplishments. Coaches Dawn and Joel say that “It has been a pleasure to coach these kids. We had fun every time we got together to study.”

The treatment for milk enterotoxemia is to restrict feed intake so the doe does not increase milk production too rapidly. The ideal adult weight for a Himalayan doe is 3-1/2 pounds.
