Jim DeRose will represent the GOP in the race for Minnesota House of Representative for district 14B. He currently owns the Riverside Resort in Richmond and Riverside Inn in Cold Spring. He also spent 28 years as a music teacher in schools and has a graduate degree in education from St. Thomas University. If elected, DeRose plans to secure fair funding for schools, classrooms and teachers. He wants to ensure that the education dollars taxpayers entrust to schools is put to use in the classroom and not in wasteful spending programs. He intends to improve traffic conditions on Minnesota Highway 23 by securing funding for its continued expansion. To create a new surge of entrepreneurial activity, he supports JOBZ (Job Opportunity Building Zones) legislation, which he hopes will stimulate economic development in greater Minnesota.
