Thursday, Aug. 27, the Millner family received the results from the State Fair International Cold Climate Wine Competition. They had entered seven wines into the competition.
“Little Iza” received a Gold Medal. Draga received a silver medal, and Neuhaus received a bronze medal.
Little Iza: This white wine is named after the youngest addition to the Millner family, Izabella. This wine is highly recommended with fish dishes.
Draga: This is a Hungarian word roughly translating to “precious.” This dry red blend is recommended to be served with heavier steak dishes, stews, gumbos, or some excellent Hungarian goulash.
Neuhaus: Neuhaus is the name of the town that Franz and Anna Millner came from in Bohemia. This dry red wine goes well with spicier steak, pork dishes or a good schnitzel.
The harvest of the grapes will probably be Sept. 12, 19, and 26. If interested in helping with the harvest, call the winery at 398-2081.
