One week ago, we were enjoying temperatures in the 60s and 70s across much of the state. Parts of Minnesota were even in the 80s and lower 90s across the Twin -Cities and southern Minnesota.
We were back to reality over the weekend as a slow-moving system brought snow to Minnesota Saturday into Sunday. Much of the region saw anywhere from 1 to 4 inches of snow with this system. The roads were very slick as a wintry mix was also reported around the state.
This week as well we will experience more rain and snow, and colder-than-normal temperatures. In fact, some locations will be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than average for this week and into the weekend. This just goes to show you how crazy our weather can be in Minnesota this time of the year.
Rain and snow will be with us through Saturday as a series of weather disturbances will push across the state. The wind will also be fairly strong at times.
By the way, the 8- to 14-day outlook will continue to call for below-normal temperatures. Our spring and summer-like weather was nice while it lasted.
Weather history: On this date in 1820, records show that the first tornado ever recorded in Minnesota took place at Ft. Snelling. No one was injured in the event.
