N. Hope Nothnagel, 95

N. Hope Nothnagel of Willard, Mo., died peacefully on Monday, March 22, 2021, in the Willard Care Facility, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. She had just celebrated her 95th birthday.

A celebration service will be held in Minnesota with family and friends at a later date.

Nethaline Hope Hurrle was born March 11, 1926, to Leo and Ellanora Hurrle. She grew up on the family farm near Fair Haven where she enjoyed milking the cows, and working the cornfields with Prince and Barnham their draft horses She attended school in Kimball where she graduated as class valedictorian. After graduating, she worked as a bank teller and as an auctioneer’s assistant.

On May 29, 1946, Hope married Ervin Nothnagel at St. Mary Help of Christians Church, and they shared 55 years together. To this union they were blessed with four sons and two daughters. While raising her family, she was able to pursue various career fields including seamstress work, computer data entry, and library management positions at two colleges. As a retired librarian, Hope had a great passion for reading. Her center was always her faith, family, and friends upon whom she lavished her generous and giving nature. Between her early years in Minnesota and her later years in Missouri, Hope also lived in South Dakota, North Dakota, and Alaska. In 1998, Hope and Ervin moved to Willard, Mo., where she enjoyed gardening and watching over the local wildlife that visited her yard every day.

Hope was preceded in death by her husband Ervin, son James, her parents, brother Ellwood, and sisters Joan, Ora Rose, and Rhea.

She is survived by her children Ervin (and Sissy) Nothnagel of Paradise, Texas, Monica (and Phil) Jungbluth of St. Joseph, Mo., Nelda (and Ron) Skidmore of Carlton, Ore., Joseph (and Judy) Nothnagel of Woodstock, Ill., and Norm (and Janet) Nothnagel of Willard, Mo.; grandchildren Eric (and Vanessa) Nothnagel, Renee (and Harley) Laechelin, Perrin (and Dee) Jungbluth, Adam (and Meghan) Nothnagel, Matt (and Ashley) Nothnagel, Sam (and Geneva) Nothnagel, and Katie Nothnagel; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers Francis (and Marilyn) Hurrle of St. Augusta, and Larry (and Carol) Hurrle of St. Cloud; sister-in-law Delores Spaude of Baxter; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family who loved her dearly.
