If you think the Minnesota Twins’ 2003 season has been a challenge, you should give the Minnesota Twins maze a try. Twins baseball is featured at the Nelson Family Farm corn maze and Pumpkin Festival, which runs weekends from Sept. 27-Oct. 26. Visitors can challenge their navigational skills in the 4-acre corn maze, located 3.5 miles southwest of Litchfield. For the past six years, Farmer Nelson and Mrs. Farmer Nelson have transformed their farm into a huge fall playground, with one of the main features being a corn maze. Past mazes have featured Minnesota Vikings and Smokey the Bear. This year, inspired by the success of the Minnesota Twins during the past few seasons, the Nelsons created a maze that highlights the team. But this year, they added a twist. Visitors will be challenged with seven baseball trivia questions as they try to make their way through the maze. Answers to the questions can be found in the baseballs or Twins logo, which are part of the corn maze. The maze is only part of the fun of the annual Pumpkin Festival run by Farmer Nelson and his crew. After finishing the corn field maze, visitors can enjoy hay rides, horse-drawn wagon rides, farm animals, pumpkin painting, pumpkin chucking, corn cob golf, a gift shop, food and many other activities. The maze is open during the Pumpkin Festival from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 12 noon-5 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 27-Oct 26.
