Nicholas Reinert of South Haven died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at his home after a long battle with emphysema. He was 67. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Clearwater. Burial was in St. Luke’s Parish Cemetery. Relatives and friends called from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, and after 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at the Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater. Parish prayers were at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Nicholas C. “Nick” Reinert was born Sept. 10, 1939, in St. Cloud to Norbert and and Gertrude  (Streitz) Reinert. He married Betty Hill June 18, 1960, at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He worked construction and drove truck in the St. Cloud area most of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and at his cabin near Park Rapids. Nick was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara Beuning and brother Ralph. Nick is survived by his wife Betty of South Haven; children Keith (and Jean) of Watkins, Karen (and Dale) Ergen of Annandale, Sandy (and Joe) Messer of Braham, Tim (and Tammy) of Alaska, Bev (and Pat) Messer of Fairhaven, and Tom (and Missy) of Fairhaven; 21 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Jack (and Elaine) of St. Cloud, Rosemary Voigt of St. Cloud, Margaret (and Donald) Salzbrun of St. Cloud, Elizabeth (and Robert) Symalla of New Mexico, Joe (and Laverne) of St. Cloud, and Mary Lou (and Robert) Standerowski of Delaware.
