Both Express games were cancelled because of inclement weather last week. The Friday game with St. Joe will not be made up, and no make-up has been scheduled at this time for the Pearl Lake game. The Express will take on the Dassel Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, and will battle the Blues in Litchfield at the beautiful Optimist Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16. The Express was very happy to see everyone who came out for the Mothers’ Day Dinner on Sunday, May 11, at the Playland Ballroom. More than 500 people were served a delicious buffet that was prepared by the top-notch Playland Ballroom staff. A very big “thank you” goes out to all who attended. Special thanks to Dennis and Jan Schmitz, along with everyone on the Playland staff who help make this dinner a success year after year. Finishing touches in progress at the outfield wall. Saturday was not only Kimball’s city-wide garage sale day, it was also a day where the Express players and volunteer workers started slapping on the finishing touches of the outfield wall down at the local diamond. The backside of the wall is being completed first; these braces need to be in place for stability and support of the wall. The fence will be a sharp-looking navy blue and trimmed in gray. You can see what the finished fence will look like by taking a stroll down to Willow Creek Park; the back side of the fence is very visible driving down to the park. The inside of the fence should be completed this Saturday. With the completion of the wall, there will only be two obstacles left before playing on the field this summer. One is for the grass to come in thicker, and the other is ag-lime to put down on the warning track in the outfield. Anyone interested in donating a load of ag-lime to the field, please call Tom Marquardt at (320) 398-6731 or contact any member of the Express baseball team.
