Friday, Nov. 14, is an important date in the Minnesota Teacher of the Year Program. That’s the deadline for nominating outstanding educators for the honor of Minnesota Teacher of the Year 2004. Nominations can be submitted electronically by accessing the form at , or by calling Chris Carlin at (800) 652-9073. Anyone may nominate a public or private pre-K-12th-grade teacher who holds a Minnesota teaching license. Teachers formally apply to the program once they’re nominated. Last year, 125 professional educators completed the application process. The Minnesota program is among the most successful in the country, with four state teachers going on to become National Teacher of the Year. Sponsored by Education Minnesota, the program receives support from Education Minnesota-ESI, the Northland Inn, McDonald’s Restaurants of Minnesota, Pearson Education, Teacher Federal Credit Union, United Educators Credit Union and the SMARTer Kids Foundation.
