November is a time people give thanks for many different things. KES is thankful for students who excel and would like to recognize the following students as November Students of the Month. In its fifth year at Kimball Elementary School, the program honors nine students each month, from October through April, who are recognized for any or all of the following criteria: academic achievement, extraordinary effort and/or exemplary citizenship. Classroom teachers at each grade level select a student to represent their group. The Student of the Month program is an initiative that recognizes those individual students who go beyond the boundaries of what is required. Letters are sent home to notify parents of the honor. Students have their photo and a paragraph about themselves on display by the office. At the conclusion of each month, students are invited to a Super Sundaes for Super Students activity. Students receive certificates, pencils and ice cream treats to celebrate the honor. Superintendent Dr. Scott Thielman also sends letters home to students and parents to recognize this achievement.
