We have finally broken the extreme heat that we had Sunday into Monday. Of course, the region had Heat Advisories and Extreme Heat Warnings into early Tuesday morning. At times it felt like 100 to 110 degrees across the state.
Brainerd, Little Falls, Park Rapids, and Hutchinson climbed to 98 degrees on Sunday for the actual air temperature. -Alexandria, Detroit Lakes, Elbow Lake, Kimball, and Montevideo all topped out at 99 degrees on Father’s Day.
Meanwhile, Granite Falls, Morris, Wheaton, and Moorhead all hit 100 degrees on Sunday. If you thought that was hot, Madison was the hottest at 102 degrees F.
Another scorcher was found on Monday as temperatures again climbed to near 100 degrees.
A cold-front pushed through Monday evening and that did trigger some scattered showers and thunderstorms. On the backside of this system, slightly cooler weather pushed through on Tuesday.
Expect temperatures to be in the 80s for the midweek and then back into the lower 90s for Thursday and Friday. Hang in there as we could see some upper 70s by the weekend.
