Parkinson?Äôs Support Group Oct. 19

The St. Cloud Area Parkinson?Äôs Support Group welcomes Dr. Michael Park presenting ?ÄúDeep Brain Stimulation for People with Parkinson?Äôs?Äù 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at the Great Regional Library in St. Cloud. This is a free presentation open to the public. Dr. Park is one of the U.S. leading authorities on Neuromodulation (deep brain stimulation – DBS). 

This surgical therapy for brain conditions such as Parkinson?Äôs disease, dystonia, and essential tremor, modulates brain activity to treat the conditions?Äô symptoms. Dr. Park received his M.D. and Ph.D. from the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Kansas (KU), received a Bachelors in Biology from KU and dual Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and Economics from Cornell University. Prior to accepting his position at the U of M, Park was an assistant professor and the Director of Functional Neurosurgery and Pain in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky.

He was a 2009 recipient of the William P. Van Wagenen Fellowship and studied at the Assistance Publique L?ÄôHopital d?ÄôAdulte de la Timone, Marseille, France.
