Phoebe Stangle of Sauk Rapids died quietly and peacefully at St. Cloud Hospital on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, from complications due to respiratory issues and heart failure. She was 94.
A Celebration of Life service is planned that will take place at the Good Shepherd Community Chapel.
Phoebe Ann Stangle was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Hopkins to Myron and Virginia (Meng) Beers. Phoebe married Donald Stangle on Oct. 4, 1969, at MEZPAH Congregational Church in Hopkins. Phoebe was an elementary teacher in various districts located in Wyoming, S.D., and Minnesota over her 17 year teaching career. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball.
Phoebe enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting with the ladies at St. John’s Lutheran Church and traveling. She spent many hours attending tractor shows with Don and raising her children. She also enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and watching old reruns of the TV show “Hee Haw.” Above all else, Phoebe loved attending church along with spending time with Don, her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Hazel, Jean, Lois and Phillip.
Survivors include children Joe (Deonne) Stangle of Sartell, Clair Stangle of Maple Grove; grandchildren Rainna and Rachel Stangle of Sartell, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family extends a warm “thank you” to the Good Shepherd Community for all your wonderful care and to the St. Cloud Hospital ER and 5th floor nurses, as the compassionate caregivers that gave Phoebe and our family comfort during her final days.
