Powder Ridge skiers qualify for Junior Olympics

More than 350 alpine racers from nine states converged on Marquette Mt., Mich. this past week to compete in the Central J3/J4 USSA Championships and bids for the Junior Olympics (JO’s) to be held in Colorado in March. Three racers from Powder Ridge entered and all three qualified. For the J3 Women, Megan Bacharach took 6th in the Big GS, and 6th in SL and 3rd in GS for 5th place overall and an automatic top seed in all four events at JO’s. Josiah Powell combined two top 30 finishes to earn his place onto the Central J3 Men’s team. The J3 Rocky/Central JO’s will be held in Winter Park, Colo. March 7-13 and will include a downhill, Super G, GS and SL. Molly Gaetz, racing in the J4 Division was 15th in GS and 20th in Big GS to gain the right to compete in Steamboat Springs, Colo. at the J4 Rocky/Central JO’s March 14-20.
