Praise for band and choir concert

·

Wow! Last Monday evening, Dec. 7, the Kimball Area High School band and choir students held their concert. If you attended, I am sure you agree that we have such gifted students. The singing was amazing. It is my belief that it might be easier for girls to share their gift of singing with others, making it obvious the larger number of girls in the choir than boys. That being said, I am so impressed with the young gentlemen that shared their gift of voice with us all. It is such a nice and necessary part of a choir to have those voices blend with the others. To the soloists, double WOW. Touching songs sung with such heart … thank you.

Then there are the bands. It is nice to see how much progress the Junior High Band has made over the years, and they did such a great job. I’m sure some of you think practice can be a drag, I hope that you see the value in taking the time to learn from one of the best teachers out there, and dedicate yourself to greatness. The Senior High Band was amazing too … hours of practice for them sure has paid off. I did miss the Jazz Band, though. Hopefully it will be present at the next concert.

To our teachers, Mr. Keith Haake and Mrs. Arlene Sands, triple WOW … we are so blessed to have such gifted and passionate people teaching our young ones the love of music. You each go so many steps farther to encourage those that have the natural, God-given gift of voice or instrument to do their thing, but encourage those who have to put a bit more practice in to be great, not to give up. Music is something to be enjoyed your entire life. I have actually come to concerts when I haven’t had a student in band or choir. They are very entertaining and GOOD.

If you missed this one, I encourage you NOT to miss the next. Merry Christmas and all of God’s best to you all.

Eileen Dahlinger,
