Because of the weather, Stearns County’s Park Commission has rescheduled its hearing to discuss Minnesota DNR grant applications for three County parks to March 14. The grants were for a new Kraemer Lake County Park near St. Joseph and the expansion of Warner Lake County Park and Quarry Park & Nature Preserve. On March 14, the hearings will be at the Stearns County Public Works Building in Waite Park. Residents are invited to comment on the proposed land acquisitions. The Kraemer Lake County Park grant application proposes the purchase of 263 acres in St. Joseph Township. This new park would possibly be fore picnicking, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, swimming, fishing and boating. This public hearing is at 7 p.m. The Warner Lake County Park application proposes the purchase of 23-acres on the southeast edge of the park. This hearing is at 7:45 p.m. Lastly, the Quarry park & Nature Preserve application proposes buying a 39-acre parcel of land on the south edge of the park. This area would be used for picnicking, a play area and connections to the park’s trail system. At 8:30 p.m., this public hearing begins. Anyone who wishes to comment on the grant applications, but cannot make the meeting can submit their thoughts in writing to Stearns County Parks, 1802 County Road 137, Waite Park, Minn. 56387 or online at PARKINFO@co.stearns.mn.us.
