Ramona Lea Mackereth was born on July 13, 1936, in Kimball, to George and Louise (Arens) Mackereth. Mona grew up in Kimball along with her five siblings. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1954. Mona married the love of her life, Gerald Almgren, on Jan. 22, 1955, in Kimball. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and hard work on their farm. Mona was a homemaker and devoted farm wife, balancing the demands of rural life while raising their three children. In 1981, they made the decision to move to the Fosston area, where they embraced new experiences. In 2002, Mona and Jerry returned to their roots in Kimball. Jerry died the following year in 2003. Mona stayed in their home for as long as her health allowed, eventually moving in with family.

Mona’s passion for gardening allowed her to create beautiful landscapes that reflected her nurturing spirit. Winters spent in Arizona provided cherished moments of warmth and relaxation, and her dedication to quilting and embroidery brought warmth and comfort to countless family and friends. Above all, Mona loved being in the presence of her family and the time they shared together.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, and sister Betty Boline.

She is survived by her children Gerri (and Ron) McWherter of Dassel, Mark of Watkins, and Chad (and Cindy) of Kimball; grandchildren Dillon (and Misty) McWherter, Jerry (and Stacy), Jessica (and Oliver) Ling, and Joshua (and Shelbi); great-grandchildren Lucy, Lindsey, Wyatt, Eden, Millie Jo, Ruby, Jude, Scarlett, Jace, Mason, Esther, Farrah, and Hailey; siblings Patricia O’Fallon of Paynesville, Nancy Moyer of Watkins, Debbie (and Lyndy) VanVleet of St. Cloud, and Ed (and Sandy) Mackereth of Kimball; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
