Raymond “Bud” Brixius, 75
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins, with Rev. Jack Brunner officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Bud was born on Nov. 7, 1926, to Michael and Agnes (Geiser) Brixius. He married Dorothy Hennen on Nov. 12, 1953, in Paynesville. He owned and operated Brixius Market in Watkins for 43 years. He served with the Merchant Marine in the Pacific from 1944 to 1946 and was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Korea from 1950 to 1952. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Watkins Fire Department for 28 years, and he was a member of the Watkins Legion Post 453 for 58 years. He was also a member of the Watkins Senior Citizens, and he was a mass server for funerals at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Brixius was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edmund Brixius, sisters Odella Werner, Adeline Bettendorf, Ester Sandhorst and Marcella Brixius.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; children and their spouses Paula (and Mike) Searle of Ogden, Utah; Alan (and Linda) Brixius of Maple Grove; Carla (and Jeff) Asfeld of Kimball, Lisa Brixius of Sartell; Mary Brixius of St. Cloud; seven grandchildren; and sister Verena Rick of Watkins.
Casket bearers were Joe Asfeld, Michael Brixius, Eric Regan, Joe Bettendorf, Art Rick and Chuck Rick. Arrangements were by Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins.
