The Watertown Red Devils defeated the Kimball Express in their only home exhibition game this season Saturday, April 29.
Watertown scored all five runs early in the game, in the second inning, and the Express took their time fighting their way to a respectable four runs. Two of the Express runs were by Joey Von Wahlde, another by Scott Marquardt, but the first was by rookie catcher Ben Theisen. In fact, the Express got nothing better than a walk during the first two innings.
Pat Tschida would take the win for the Red Devils, and Zach Dingmann would be tagged with the loss for the Express.
The Express next host the St. Augusta Gussies at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, in Central Valley League play. They look forward to a strong season with a healthy roster of experienced players.

The Watkins Clippers play their first games this weekend: 1 p.m Saturday, May 6, at the Pearl Lake Lakers; and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the Luxemburg Brewers. If the weather warms up, watching a hometown ballgame is a great way to spend a couple of weekend hours.
