Senior Class President, Kaylee Hechtel, shared the request on behalf of the entire class, to be allowed to miss the last three days of school to allow for senior grades to be compiled, as well as to allow the students to prepare for graduation. In exchange, the seniors will be taking part in a food packing day on April 19th, and agree to keep their behavior, attendance, and grades in check between now and then. Motion by Zipoy, seconded by Davis to approve the request. MC
Activities Director Byron Westrich provided a review of the winter activities and post-season events. Because of enrollment growth, Kimball will be moving to Class 2A in all sports except wrestling, volleyball, softball which will remain in Class 1A. The Activities Director has petitioned the High School League to allow Kimball to also remain in Class 1A in football, and is awaiting the result of this request. In reviewing the spring sports, numbers are good in all programs. Mr. Bahe, current industrial tech instructor will be the Jr. High golf coach, which will hopefully help to bring more students into the golf program by having an on-staff coach. He is putting together a wish list of equipment, uniform, and supply to share with the booster clubs. He is working towards replacement of Jr. High uniforms rather than continuing to utilize the handed-down uniforms.
Celebrations and success of students and staff included congratulations to the wrestlers who advanced to state; boys and girls basketball teams for their advancement in the playoffs. Knowledge Bowl has also advanced to the section tournament to be held on March 20th. Choir attended their solo and ensembles contest where all but one entry received a State Superior, and that one received a State Excellent. We are also anticipating receiving a Best in Site award. Alumni Mike Schultz participated in the World Cup snowboarding competition where he received a bronze metal.

Ms. Johnson reported on having given a lot of tours to potential families, with a number of new students stating now, and others registering to start in the fall. There was 97% participation at the spring parent/teacher conferences. A huge thank you to the I Love To Read committee, and to Whitney Hunt for her work in holding the Camp Read S?Äômore 2-day event. There is still a lot of illness going around the elementary for both students and staff. And, currently they are gearing up for the MCA?Äôs which will be starting soon.
Mr. Widvey reported on 43 of 54 students are registered to take the ACT exam on April 19th. The Sr. Class will be at a food packing event on that day. May 3rd the Senior Class will attend the Twins game as a group; this has become a tradition for the seniors. Thank you to the board for approving the seniors request to be dismissed three days early. The majority of time is currently spent focusing on the upcoming MCA tests. Testing will be limited to 1-hour sessions over four days, and will be taken on Chromebooks in the classroom rather than students moving into the computer labs. Staff are working very hard preparing the students, and have agreed that there will be no finals if classes as a whole do well on the MCA?Äôs.
Mr. Wagner reported on having attended the Regional SEE meeting. Earlier this week the administrators completed a walkthrough of four classrooms at the elementary. Having observed the classes of Whitney Hunt, Lisa Hennen, Blake Boran, and Brianna Barrett, he felt very confident walking out that these teachers are doing a great job in their classrooms and he wouldn?Äôt need to continue observations. Board member pictures have been added to the district website. With the redesign, the public can locate each members contact information as well as determine which committees they sit on. Regarding the proposed building addition, ideally it would have wrapped around the south side of the gym area, but structurally this would not work. A number of individuals are working to locate volunteer labor and donated equipment to be able to make this addition happen. The plans for the new press box have been received and the cost is within reason. The contractor could start the project the end of April and have it completed before the scheduled May 12th mega meet. The Department of Education approved the District?Äôs request to start school on August 28th, prior to Labor Day for 17-18. Lastly, ?ÄúMarshall?Äù, from Paw Patrol paid a visit to the elementary school on Monday. This was in response to a food service promotion where students were to design a cereal box; students were selected to have their picture with Marshall in front of his fire truck. The students really enjoyed this event.
