Relay for Life is Friday

·

Stearns East Relay for Life held at the Kimball High Track this Friday, June 10. This is a 12 hour event to raise money for research and programs supported by the American Cancer Society. We’re hoping people from Eden Valley, Watkins and Kimball area will come and show their supporting and experience what the Relay is all about. It’s really about honoring those loved ones of ours who have been touched by cancer. Some have lost their battle, others are patients right now undergoing treatment, and yet others, many others are SURVIVORS. We honor survivors with a survivor reception starting at 5 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. our wonderful survivors will make the first lap around the track and release balloons. There is a program to follow, and chance for you to meet those who have chosen to have a team or be part of a team for this years event. There will be a quest speaker and other entertainment. At 9 p.m. the luminaries will be lit. A luminary is a bag decorated with some ones name who has been touched by cancer. If you did not get a chance to have a bag made for a loved one of yours, decorated bags will be available for a donation of $10 each for the American Cancer Society. If you would like to help with either setup or cleanup, your help would be greatly appreciated. This is your Relay for Life, and last year our walkers raised $70,000. It takes a lot of people to make this happen, and wonderful community support with corporate sponsorships, team sponsorships and those of you donating money for luminary bags. We will be walking for 12 hours, so you are welcomed to come anytime to visit and give the walkers your support. In case of rain, we will move indoors into the Kimball High School. Come hungry because there will be food available for sale, with all proceeds going to American Cancer Society.
