Renee (Arendt) Bober of Hilton Head Island, S.C., died from a brain aneurysm Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Savannah Memorial Hospital. She was 81.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, with Rev. Martin Laughlin officiating. Inurnment was in the church columbarium.
Renee was born June 11, 1923, in Watkins. She grew up there and married Don Bober there. She also lived in Minneapolis and Stillwater, and retired to Hilton Head Island. She graduated from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee with a degree in art. She and her husband were the co-founders and proprietors of Bober Drug on Grand Avenue in St. Paul. In Hilton Head, Renee was an active member of St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church where she participated in Devotion of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. She was a member of the Hilton Head Plantation Women’s Club.
Renee is survived by her four children: Mary Lee (and Jerry) Suess of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; Carol Jo Bober of New York, N.Y.; Michael (and Ann) Bober of Roswell, Ga.; and Mark (and Lasley) Bober of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren: Brian, Kate and Michael Suess of Hilton Head Island, Shanley and Christopher Bober of Atlanta, Ga., and Matthew, Sarah and Mark Bober of Dallas, Texas; sisters Mary Malmgren of Willmar, Janelle of Milwaukee; and sister-in-law Lorraine Dockendorf of Kimball.
