Richard “Rick” Kinzer died Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, surrounded by family. He was 79.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, with visitation to follow at 12 p.m.

Richard Lee Kinzer was born Nov. 6, 1945, in Watkins to John and Margaret Kinzer. He grew up on a farm in Watkins. He graduated high school from St. Boniface in Cold Spring, and obtained a degree in psychology/sociology at St. Johns University in 1967. Rick and Kathy were wed in 1980, and later had a ceremony at St Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Rick served as President of the St. Cloud Jaycees in 1975, President of the St. Cloud Thursday Morning Rotary in 1984, and Secretary of the St. Cloud Granite Rotary Club from 1996 to 1997. His dedication to service extended beyond formal roles as he was a volunteer speaker for speech classes at Tech High School and delivered for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Diane and Mary Kay, and brothers Larry, Daniel, Charles, Patrick and Victor.

Richard is survived by his wife Kathy; his sons Kip (and Shelly) Kinzer, and Victor (and Ashley) Kinzer; his grandchildren Blake, Eliana and Elanor; and his siblings Jack, Don, Audrey, Dan. Mary Sue, Meg, Rose, Kathy, Chuck, and JoAnn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sharing and Caring Hands in Minneapolis.
