The Ridgewater College Center for Customized and Continuing Education will provide the 90-hour series of classes to meet the pre-licensing requirements in real estate education beginning Feb. 20, at the Willmar Campus. Individuals wishing to obtain a real estate license are required to complete all three 30-hour courses in sequence, prior to application. The courses will take place from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The cost is $250 for each 30-hour course. A textbook used for all three courses is additional and may be purchased at the college bookstore. Upon completion of each course, the student will receive a certificate to be used for licensure application. The courses will be taught by Robert McAvey, an experienced real estate salesperson. Course I: Fundamentals of Real Estate, is the introduction to basic concepts including professional standards, marketing, financing, market evaluation, contracts, zoning and other topics. This course will take place Feb. 20-21, and 27-28. Course II: Advanced Real Estate Principles, includes information on deeds, current state and federal laws, legal appraising, specialty brokerages, and advance financing. This course will be March 12-13 and 19-20. Course III: Real Estate Finance and Resident Appraisal, includes information on types of mortgages, sources of money and methods of valuation. This course will be April 16-17 and 23-24. Real estate classes provided by Ridgewater College are approved by the Minnesota Department of Commerce pursuant to Minnesota Statute 82.22.
