Roadwork to begin in Annandale

MnDOT work on Highway 55 through Annandale is scheduled to begin April 21, and continue through mid-October.

The road will remain open to through traffic between Annandale Blvd. and Poplar Avenue during this time. Drivers can expect narrow lanes and no shoulders on this stretch of Highway 55.

From late-May to mid-October, Highway 55 from Poplar Avenue to Brown Avenue will be closed to through traffic for road construction. Possible detours include Co. Rd. 3, Co. Rd. 39, Highway 24, and Co. Rd. 6.

Access to Annandale will remain open during this entire construction period. Those who live, work, or visit within the closed work zone can access town. Drivers can expect a busy work zone with reduced speeds, multiple crews and equipment, and changes to access during the construction period.

The $11.4 million project will reconstruct the asphalt road surface, replace or update underground utilities, update street lighting and the signal system at Highway 55 and Excelsior Ave., realign accesses, and more.

The Clearwater River Bridge on Highway 55 (between Kimball and South Haven) is scheduled for resurfacing and updates in June to mid-September 2025. Traffic will be detoured to Co.
