Roger Osterberg died Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at his home in Watkins. He was 76. 
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Ostmark Lutheran Church in Watkins. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Roger Milton Osterberg was born Oct. 24, 1938, in Watkins to Gerhard “Jack” and Selma (Kling) Osterberg. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army. Roger was united in marriage to Karen Elstad April 2, 1966, in Dassel.
Roger was an active lifelong member of the Ostmark Lutheran Church where he was both baptized and confirmed. He cherished worshiping at Ostmark and served with his congregation in a variety of ways. Roger spent the majority of his life with Karen together on the farm in Watkins where he was born. In addition to farming, Roger was a rural mail carrier. Roger was a caring husband, father and grandpa. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed caring for the lawn of his Century Farm. He also enjoyed spending time with others golfing, traveling and watching the Minnesota Gophers, Twins, Vikings, and Timberwolves. He spent time coaching his children’s youth sports teams, attended anything involving his children and grandchildren, and he was a member of the Litchfield Male Chorus. He had a quiet, thoughtful personality and truly valued the relationships that he had with his family and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Selma; and a grandson Zach Rohrbeck.
He is survived by his wife Karen of Watkins; children Paul Osterberg of Litchfield, Nora Rohrbeck of Watkins, and David Osterberg of Savage, Minn.; grandchildren Kelsey Osterberg, Jack Osterberg, and Lily Osterberg; brothers Russel (and Ruth) Osterberg of Alexandria, and Douglas (and Chris) Osterberg of Hector, Minn.; and a sister Carol (and Ordell) Ritter of Chokio, Minn.
