Ronald Smith, 66


Ronald Smith, formerly of Cokato, died Saturday, March 11, 2023, at his South Haven home. He was 66.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 17, at Kimball United Methodist Church in Kimball with pastor Lori Artner officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery in South Haven. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday and 10-11 a.m. Friday, both at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. The funeral will be live-streamed on the funeral home website.

Ronald Lee Smith was born Jan. 18, 1957, in Litchfield to Robert and Sharon (Rubel) Smith. He grew up in Darwin, and graduated with the Class of 1975 from Dassel-Cokato High School. On Sept. 6, 1980, he was united in marriage to Diane Jean Curtis in Maple Lake. They made their home in Cokato where they raised their family. Ron worked in construction, and took great pride in his work. He was a jack-of-all-trades. Ron was the former president of the Cokato Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his ATV. He loved spending time with family and friends on the weekends, and taking time with grandchildren on the golf cart and Ranger.

Ronald was preceded in death by his father, and his sister Monica Moham.

He is survived by his wife Diane of South Haven; daughters Destiny Smith (and Todd Bearson) of St. Augusta, and Lacey (and Joe) Decker of Fair Haven; mother Sharon Smith of Annandale; grandchildren Kenna and Dylan Bearson, and Delilah and Maylee Decker; siblings Sheri (and Keith) Woodford of Grove City, and Kevin (and Nancy) Smith of Elk River; and many other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers will be Andy Spike Weston Smith, Spenser Smith, Brandon Woodford, Bryan Moham, and Haydn Kelm. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Kimball.
