Safety consultant workshop A Minnesota workplace safety consultant education workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday, July 15, in room A-152 at the Willmar campus of Ridgewater College. The two-part seminar will review safety committee requirements with an emphasis on committee responsibilities and how those responsibilities can be effectively incorporated into the overall safety and health system within a facility. The second component will provide a workplace violence overview including how employers should handle issues in the workplace. The program will be of interest to managers, supervisors, member of labor-management safety committees, safety and health professionals and insurance loss-control representatives. CDL classes Opportunities will be provided to complete Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training this summer at Ridgewater College-Willmar. The truck driving training program will help prepare students for positions in the truck driving industry. Courses will include log book maintenance, safety and regulations, securing loads, defensive driving, and truck operation and maintenance. Driving experience to earn a CDL will be taught in courses at various levels. Cosmetology refresher course A series of five workshops for cosmetology professionals who need to meet licensure renewal requirements will be provided by the Ridgewater College cosmetology program beginning Monday, July 12. The hands-on classes will present valuable skills and helpful tips from a professional instructor who knows the cosmetology business. The 40-hour course will be held from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. July 12-20, in the cosmetology building at Ridgewater College in Willmar. The refresher course is provided to cosmetologists who need to renew or reactivate their licensure in agreements with the Minnesota Department of Commerce. The cost of the course is $400 including a 40-hour certificate of completion. A mannequin head is required for the haircutting segment; they are available at the college for approximately $40.
