Save our Watkins grocery store

·

The Watkins EDA board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, July 8, at City Hall to review options to save our town grocery store.
As many of you are aware, the current grocery store is for sale, and we want to ensure that a new owner is found.
The loss of a grocery store in a small community can be detrimental to everyone in a variety of ways: limiting availability of fresh food to older residents or those without transportation, decrease in local traffic to other area businesses, and potential decrease in property values.

We invite all interested people to attend this meeting to discuss different options and ideas to help maintain a grocery store in Watkins. If you can’t attend this meeting, the EDA board meets every second Monday of each month; community involvement and input is always welcome.
