Sonny Schiefelbein of Kimball recently earned high marks for her fine performances at the 12th annual Granite City Classic competition held November in St. Cloud. Schiefelbein, 15, earned a second-place trophy in open pre-juvenile artistic freeskating, and fourth-place tropies in both open pre-juvenile freeskating and open pre-juvenile compulsory moves. The Granite City Classic, sponsored by the St. Cloud Figure Skating Club, attracted skaters from 38 clubs across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North and South Dakota. Sonny, a ninth-grader at Kimball Area High School, is a member of the St. Cloud Figure Skating Club. She is the daughter of Cathy and Frank Schiefelbein III of Kimball. Her grandparents are Frosty and Frank Schiefelbein Jr. of Kimball, and Jean and Jim McDonnell Jr. of Buffalo.
