Jerome Kuechle enjoys the people in the Kimball Community, both the residents and the staff members at Kimball schools. “I get excited every time I come to town! We have two new schools,” Kuechle said. “There are new people coming into the area and I really think that the school district and the City of Kimball have a very bright future.” If elected to the school board, Kuechle would like to address the district’s deficit. He also wants to work on improving test scores and providing quality education to the pupils. “We need to keep improving our … general curriculum to give our students the best chance to succeed in life after education, be it going onto school or entering the work force,” Kuechle said. He has served on the school board since 1988 and fulfilled the clerk and chairman positions. He thinks that the board is currently doing a lot of things right and change is not an easy process. “Unfortunately, it takes a lot of time to change things and as the state and federal government come up with new standards, you are constantly changing.” One of Kuechle’s goals if elected would be increase board and administrative relationships with the community. “Sometimes I feel we get too far removed from what the desires of the community are. They are the taxes payers who support our school.” Along with staying in contact with the community, Kuechle would like to see the community grow and listed this as a change he would like to see within the school district. “[I would like to address] the number of students we are losing to open enrollment. Between outgoing and incoming we are at negative one, but there are a lot of students in the pool we need to look at [bringing into or keeping in our district].” Kuechle described a successful board member as a team player. “It is very hard to accomplish anything without the result of the board’s support. The decisions made by board members affect a lot of lives, young and old, we all need to pray for guidance.” Kuechle said he wants to serve on the board to be a voice for the community and students. He is the father of four children, his youngest graduated from KAHS last spring. Kuechle owns and operates Keek Developers and Keek Underground.
